The International Institute of Fisheries Economics & Trade (IIFET) is a global organization consisting 600+ members from over 65 countries around the world. IIFET provides an international forum for the exchange of research, information, and ideas on the economics of fisheries management, seafood trade, and aquaculture. Our goal is to advance the productive use of economic theory and analysis to answer critical questions surrounding the sustainable use of marine resources, and to ensure future livelihoods of those who produce food from the sea. Every other (even-numbered) year, individuals from academia, trade, government, and NGOs interested in the economics of fisheries, aquaculture, and seafood trade to gather at a different location, rotating among global fishing regions and nations for maximum diversity, to share research and contribute to solutions of problems facing managers of critical marine resources.
