Abstract
  • The neutron flux-energy spectral characterization of a Thermo Fisher MP320 deuterium-tritium neutron generator was performed for two shielding configurations, one with substantial moderator between the source and the sample and one without such moderator. The STAYSL PNNL spectral adjustment code was utilized in conjunction with MCNP modelled reference spectra and reaction rate data from the multi-foil activation method. Ten neutron activation reactions from seven activation foils (Al, Au, Sc, W, Na, In, and Fe) were irradiated in each shielding configuration then analyzed using gamma spectrometry to obtain the neutron reaction rates for STAYSL PNNL. The result is a finalized neutron flux-energy spectrum for each shielding configuration over the 1.0E-10 to 20~MeV neutron energy range.
