Abstract
  • “Starting the first part of July, 1947, the Fish Commission of Oregon set up a field station at Newport for the purpose of conducting research on shellfish.” (p.1) The status of clams in Yaquina Bay was the first topic studied. This paper gives the conditions of clam beds, lists species found, gives preliminary age composition and recruitment data, and notes concern about the intensity of the fishery and the possibility of overfishing. Includes graphs and a hand-drawn map. Note: the geographic feature referred to as “Point Virtue” is now known as Idaho Point.
