    Among the myriad of natural products are pseudosugar-containing secondary metabolites, e.g., the C7-pseudosugar-containing oligosaccharide acarbose, the C6- pseudosugar-containing aminoglycoside antibiotics, and the five-membered ring pseudosugar-containing antibiotic pactamycin.
