The boreal forest of North America is especially liable to destruction by fires. It is a region in which forest fires have been extremely common and wide spreading. Lightning is certainly one of the causes of fires but man, both aboriginal and white, has been an even more prolific source....
The plan of the present study was as follows:
1. A survey was made of professional textbooks dealing with methods of teaching science and biology. Only books published since 1920 were used.
2. Recently published high school textbooks, workbooks and laboratory manuals, and teachers' guides were reviewed for teaching aids....
