This report summarizes a study which sought to provide toxicity data for pulp mills near Coos Bay through a series of toxicity bioassays. The study also surveyed benthic and beach fauna to identify macro-organisms so individual assessments of water quality requirements could be made.
A computer model is developed to estimate the initial investment and annual operating costs of feedlot runoff control systems. Costs are estimated for complete control systems consisting of a retention pond, settling basin, clean water diversion-runoff collection structures, disposal site, and an irrigation system. The model requires design inputs and...
The indiscriminate release of fecal bacteria to the environment
can present a public health hazard when pathogenic species gain access
to drinking and recreational water sources. The extent of bacterial
contamination of surface and ground waters associated with animal
production units and waste application areas seems largely dependent
on the...
The disposal of radioactive waste products is a serious problem facing scientists and the public. One solution proposed is to dump these waste products at sea, with the area of northern Oregon and southern Washington in 100 to 1,000 fathoms as one area of consideration. However, one of the problems...
