This study examined the relationship between a spouse's therapeutic
role attitude and the mate's evaluation of the spouse's
therapeutic role behaviors. The therapeutic role consists of
supportive behaviors directed towards one's spouse. Twenty-five
couples were recruited from Oregon State University classes.
Attitude questionnaires were administered to all respondents.

Noise induced hearing loss is a subject of growing
concern. Over the past 15 years, several well-documented
studies have been completed which express the relationships
between industrial noise exposure and damage to normal and
pathological ears. This research has provided knowledge of
considerable importance to developing successful hearing
conservation programs....
The present study investigated the contribution of
attention to one-handed catching success. A group of
skilled (N = 8) and non-skilled (N = 10) subjects were
compared in their ability to process secondary task
information while executing a primary one-handed catching
task. On 40% of the trials, a secondary visual...
The American public school system has been delegated the responsibility
for providing all children with an equal educational
opportunity. For the state of Alaska, this charge is both unique and
difficult. The academic performance of Alaskan Native students, the
state's largest minority, is a serious concern due to their relatively...

Marine algae have been recognized as a rich resource of new
and unusual organic molecules with diverse biological properties.
The current need to develop new antifungal, anticancer, antibiotic
and antiviral drugs has led to an intense research effort into the
discovery, isolation and structure determination of potential
medicinal agents from...
The antimutagenic potency of wheat grain and berry extracts was studied in vitro against several heterocyclic amines (HCAs) using the Salmonella mutagenicity assay and the anticarcinogencity of wheat grain was studied in vivo using the rat colonic aberrant crypt focus assay. Wheat bran, which binds HCAs in vitro, as well...
Since the early 1990s, declines in northern spotted owl (Strix occidentalis caurina) populations have been documented through extensive field surveys and range-wide demographic analyses. Although loss of late-successional forest has been credited as the primary cause for spotted owl population declines, environmental variation has also been shown to influence vital...
Stream temperature is a water quality parameter that directly influences
the quality of aquatic habitat, particularly for cold-water species such as Pacific
salmonids. Forest harvesting adjacent to a stream can increase the amount of
solar radiation the stream receives, which can elevate stream temperatures
and impair aquatic habitat. Oregon Forest...
