Abstract
  • SIMCOMP is a computer programming system which is designed to aid biologists with a limited knowledge of FORTRAN programming to design and execute compartment-flow simulations. The system is designed to minimize the programming overhead required by any computer language while maintaining sufficient flexibility of FORTRAN. This flexibility does allow interfacing of high- and low-resolution submodels. The Coniferous Biome work has been directed toward ease in use and cost reduction. The following modifications have cut initial computer setup costs by two thirds ($8 per run on the University of Washington CDC 6400) and have reduced the number of user-supplied control cards to four.
