Abstract
  • The original settlement of Santa Rosalia, Baja California del Sur, Mexico, was due to the exploitation of the copper resources in the Boleo copper district of Mexico. Mineral resources have always been significant in the economy of the town. Development in Santa Rosalia has been limited by the non-renewable aspects of mineral resources. Highway improvements, construction of a ferry route to the Mexican mainland and other projects sponsored by the Mexican federal government in the last twenty years have broadened the economic alternatives available to Santa Rosalia.
