  • "Laboratory studies during the 1971-72 project year consisted primarily of developing mass culture and planting techniques for Manila littleneck clams (Venerupis semidecussata). Field studies continued utilizing laboratory-reared juvenile Manilas... Adult red abalone (Haliotis rufescens) were obtained from California for spawning. Experiments were initiated for culturing diatoms in the laboratory as a primary source of food for juvenile abalone." (from the Introduction)
